They use huge copper water vats, grain bins trace, big bronze pots, giant kooja’s and thooku(a vessel with lid). They use all these antiques for all their functions in order to serve food in big banquet hall so that they don’t get these vessels for rent during any festival or functions. Most of them will do their marriage at their big houses rather than in Kalyana Mandabam(Marriage Hall). Nowadays Chettinad houses are converted into Kalyana mandabam.

Karaikudi’s Muniswaran Kovil street has several antique shops selling stuff from local home furnitures, lots of junk, glass objects, glass with art works etc. Most of these buildings remain intact. They have been well-maintained, with the antiques still shining in all their glory way of life.
